MetropolisAlthough school is out, one of the great things about living in New York City is constant access to great, free art.  Three venues that afford all-age, easy public access include Lincoln Center Out of Doors, SummerStage, and Celebrate Brooklyn.

yaNY especially recommends the Celebrate Brooklyn viewing of Fritz Lang’s Metropolis, with live musical accompaniment by the Alloy Orchestra, on Thursday, August 4 at 7:00 p.m. at the Prospect Park Bandshell.  The version to be shown will incorporate the 25 minutes of additional footage recently discovered in Argentina, making the restored film only four minutes shorter than the original version that premiered in 1927.
