Aurelis De Jesus

Type: Workshop, Residency

Art Form: Dance (Latin, Salsa, Hip Hop)

Grade Level: K-12

My name is Aurelis De Jesus and I am the Hip Hop/Latin Teaching Artist at P.S. 165. I have been working with youth development for 7 years. I’ve been teaching dance in many after school programs and dance classes all around New York City. I learned how to dance hip hop when I was in elementary school during after school. Growing up, I was always in dance classes, performances, or in dance practice. I love listening to music and it’s something about dance where I can express myself through creative movement with the music. Dancing has always been apart of my life. I had the opportunity to travel to dance in Canada, Italy, and South Korea. I was able to dance for the show Lip Sync Battle, Harry Connick Jr. Show, and more. I also had the opportunity to dance in a music video with Janet Jackson and Daddy Yankee. Working with after school kids is a way of me giving back my community and being of apart of their journey. I’m super excited to see everyone and I can’t wait to have an amazing school year!
